MASKED men entered a teenage boy’s bedroom and “stabbed” and robbed him in an incident police have called “terrifying”.

A 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital after police said he suffered stab wounds to his eye, leg and head in his home.

Police were called at around 7.20pm on Saturday night following a report of the boy being attacked in Windmill Lane, Sneinton.

Jennifer Manderson-smith, who has lived in the street for eight years, said: “We have always felt safe here. You always get police cars driving up and down and we think Nottingham city had got a good approach when it comes to knife crime.

“It’s a really nice road and it’s very mixed.

“We are expecting a child any day now so it’s a bit strange to hear about the incident. It is scary.”

Another man living in the street said: “We just heard the sirens and saw a police car on Saturday night but we didn’t know what happened.

“It’s getting out of control now – it’s happening every day.

“It doesn’t make you feel very safe and we’ve got a baby too.”

A woman living in the street, who did not wish to be named, said: “It’s getting worse isn’t it? It is terrible. I have seen a photo of the police in the street on Face

book.

“I’ve lived here for 38 years and it has never been like this before.” Resident Janet Chell said: “I think I heard police cars on Saturday night. Nobod y deserves to be hurt, it is really sad to hear about. It’s not fair on young people these days.

“We have the odd incident like anywhere else but we haven’t had anything big happen recently.

“A couple of years ago we had a stabbing down the road.”

Dave Liversidge, councillor for St Ann’s, said: “This is the first I have heard of the incident, I used to live on Windmill Lane.

“If I was there I would be feeling quite worried particularly if I had a family there. It’s incredibly worrying because you don’t know what the reasons are behind it.”

Detective Sergeant Jon Kerry, who is leading the investigation, said: “This must have been a terrifying incident, which has seen a teenager being taken to hospital for treatment.

“Thankfully his injuries aren’t life-altering or life-threatening.

“The boy was in a bedroom at the home, when he was attacked by two men wearing masks who went on to steal expensive clothing and a laptop.”

Anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 575 of 2 January 2021.
