The Range prepares to reopen
HOME, LEISURE AND GARDEN STORE WAS DEVASATED BY A FIRE NEARLY A YEAR AGO
A NOTTINGHAMSHIRE branch of The Range is set to reopen almost a year after it was badly damaged in a devastating fire.
Up to 55 firefighters tackled the blaze in Sutton-in-ashfield on February 7 last year.
Stock was damaged by heat and smoke in the fire, which started in an external storage unit and spread to the shop.
After months of repairs the home, leisure and garden store will reopen on Friday, January 15, bringing 80 jobs back to the site in Station Road after staff were moved to other nearby stores.
The shop, complete with improvements, is allowed to open under Tier Four since it sells food and other items classed as essential.
It will reopen with additional safety procedures in line with current Government guidelines, including social distancing markers for customers to remain at least two metres apart, sanitising stations at the entrance and contactless payment being used if possible.
The store and shop fitting teams have been working around the clock to get the shop ready for the reopening.
The Range’s founder, Devonbased Chris Dawson, said: “Each store plays an important part in the success of our company and Suttonin-ashfield is no exception.
“Having been closed for many months, due to circumstances outside our control, we are delighted that our reopening day is now just around the corner.
“We are very lucky with the staff we have, and I look forward to welcoming any new team members to the company.
“I would like to invite the local community to join us for the reopening next week and explore their refreshed looking store full of new and exciting products,” added Mr Dawson, who grew the business after starting out as a market stall trader.
The 30,000 sq ft store will provide a wide variety of products across 16 departments, including DIY, kitchen and dining, arts and crafts, and gardening.
There will be exclusive opening offers until January 31.
