NOTTS County have suffered yet another Covid-19 postponement after their National League game away against at Eastleigh on Saturday was called off.

The Spitfires have announced a positive test in the camp and were forced to postpone their trip to face Stockport County last night.

This weekend’s game against the Magpies is also off, while Eastleigh’s home match against Wrexham – on Tuesday – has also been postponed.

A statement on Eastleigh’s website read: “Eastleigh Football Club can confirm that two further fixtures have now been formally postponed by the National League following a positive Covid-19 test at the club.

“As reported this morning, today’s fixture with Stockport County (Tue 5th Jan) was postponed due to a positive Covid-19 test in the camp.

“As a precaution, the National League have now formally postponed the following fixture against Notts County on Saturday, January 9.

“We have also been made aware of a positive Covid-19 test at Wrexham, and we would like to wish those involved a speedy recovery.

“Both ourselves and Wrexham will now enter a period of isolation, and the upcoming game on Tuesday, January 12, is also postponed.

“We will update supporters with further information in due course.”

It is the fourth Covid break Notts have suffered this season, which has denied them any momentum in the race for promotion from the National League.

Notts had a three-week break in October after Covid ripped through the squad which led to 75 percent of County players contracting the coronavirus.

A trip to Yeovil Town was then postponed after the Glovers announced a positive test, while a Christmas double header against King’s Lynn was also called off due to the infection.

The Nottingham Post understands that the Magpies have attempted to arrange a game for this weekend by bringing one of their previously postponed games forward to Saturday.

But it has not been met with a positive response, despite Notts having a free weekend due to the Eastleigh postponement and the fact the FA Cup third round is taking place.

All fixture arrangements have to be agreed by both the club and the opposition.

Notts are not due to play a league game again until Tuesday, January 19, when they face Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

But shortly before that, the Magpies are scheduled to face Stockport County in the FA Trophy at Edgeley Park on Saturday, January 16.
