Jenrick says Newark vaccine centre will be open ‘within days’

-

A NEW Covid-19 vaccine centre will be opening in a Nottinghamshire town “within days”, says the Government’s Housing Minister.

Newark MP Robert Jenrick says he has been kept informed of the plans.

The district will be one of the last in Nottinghamshire to be covered by a vaccine centre.

The Post reported on a map showing the areas now covered in the county as the NHS undergoes its biggest-ever vaccination rollout.

Mr Jenrick said: “I’m pleased a vaccine centre will be opening in Newark within days. It’s really important to add a specialist vaccine centre to the existing Gp-led efforts.”

The Conservative MP was unable to confirm the location of the centre.

Newark and Sherwood District Council also has no confirmed date or location.

A spokeswoman for the NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group said: “This is a very careful process and several rigorous checks take place to ensure safety, accessibility, power supplies, security and many other factors. It is a process that takes time which cannot be rushed and we are grateful for the public’s patience.”

Vaccine hubs are already up and running in and around the county at: Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham; King’s

Mill Hospital, Sutton-in-ashfield; City Hospital; Retford Hospital; Ashfield Health Village, Sutton-inAshfield; Richard Herrod Centre, Carlton; Gamston Community Hall; Cripps Medical Centre, Nottingham; The Table Tennis Club Meres Centre, Grantham (Lincolnshire); Larwood Surgery, Worksop.
