THE Range in Sutton-in-ashfield is preparing for its grand reopening tomorrow – almost a year after the store was badly damaged in a large fire.

The home, leisure and garden retailer in Station Road had to close its doors for extensive repairs after a fire, which started in a separate unit on February 7 last year before spreading to the store.

Some staff have been working in other branches while the work took place, but will be moved back to the refurbished store from tomorrow.

It is also expected to bring around 80 jobs back to Sutton-in-ashfield, as well as exclusive offers for the first two weeks.

Chris Dawson, who founded the company, said: “Each store plays an important part in the success of our company and Sutton-in-ashfield is no exception.

“Having been closed for many months, due to circumstances outside our control, we are delighted that our reopening day is now just around the corner.

“We are very lucky with the staff we have, and I look forward to welcoming new team members to the company. I would like to invite the local community to join us for the reopening and explore their refreshed-looking store full of new and exciting products.”

The company says the improved store will have products across 16 departments, including DIY, kitchen and dining, and arts and crafts. It will also feature an outdoor garden centre, as well as seasonal lines like an outdoor department for gardens.

Social distancing measures will be in place when the store opens at 9am to prevent the spread of Covid19.

The Range is allowed to open during the lockdown as it sells essential products.

The company website states: “As we stock thousands of essential everyday products across 184 stores we received confirmation from Trading Standards that we could remain open during the first lockdown.

“We can confirm that, just like the first time, all our stores will remain open during the current lockdown and continue to trade our full offer in a safe and responsible way.”

People are reminded that the lockdown rules state that people must stay at home, but are allowed to go shopping for essential supplies.

However, the rules state “you must stay within the local area – in the village, town, or part of the city where you live”.
