No escape for drug dealer
CROOK DIDN’T SHOW UP IN COURT BUT WAS CAUGHT AGAIN WITH CRACK AND HEROIN
A NOTTINGHAM drug dealer arrested with crack cocaine and heroin has been jailed for five and a half years.
Andrew Bell, of the Beauvale Road area in The Meadows, was arrested in June 2017 after police raided his home and found large quantities of class A and B drugs.
Officers uncovered a shoebox containing cannabis wrapped in individual bags along with a plastic bag full of heroin.
They also seized £2,320 in cash and located scales with white powder on top alongside a razor blade which believed to have been used to “cut” drugs.
The 30-year-old was charged in December 2018 and pleaded not guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin, cocaine and cannabis with a trial date set for June this year.
He then failed to appear at court and became a wanted man.
He was arrested in November with around 40 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin by The Meadows’ Operation Reacher team.
This time, Bell pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine and changed his plea to guilty in relation to the 2017 drugs warrant.
He was remanded in custody and at Nottingham Crown Court he was sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Paul Ferguson said: “We had been investigating Bell and his activities for some time and are pleased that we have now taken this substantial drug dealer out of the chain.
“We actively seek out drugs activity in our area and undertake a number of covert and overt methods in order to uncover anyone who may be involved in such criminality.
“Drug supply and production is a despicable act. It fuels all manner of crimes and preys on vulnerable people in our area and we won’t tolerate it on our doorstep.
“We welcome information from members of the public. If anyone has concerns about drug offences operating in their area, please get in touch with us on 101.”
