DREAM HOLIDAY AND NEW WEDDING!

COMMUNITY NURSE ALISON BRAYSHAW SAYS HER £50K WINDFALL WILL BE LIFE-CHANGING – AND BRING CHIPS

-

A CHIPPY tea for herself and her colleagues! Within minutes of hearing she’d won £50,000 on People’s Postcode Lottery, delighted community nurse Alison Brayshaw knew just how she would spend some of the cash.

For after a difficult year for herself and her fellow NHS workers, they were the first people Alison decided she was going to treat with her winnings.

“It’s been a tough year for everyone at work and the people we meet,” she said after being given the good news. “It’s been stressful.

“The first thing I’m going to do is ring my colleagues at work. We often don’t get time for lunch, so on a Friday we try to make the effort to do a chippy tea. The next one is on me!”

Alison was one of three Bentham residents who each scooped a festive £50,000 with People’s Postcode Lottery after their postcode was announced as a winner – just four days before Christmas.

Alison, 57, found out how much she’d won over a video call with People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie Mccourt, and when she saw her cheque, she screamed and punched the air with joy – it had certainly made her year. “My heart is racing,” she declared. “I’m going to cry! It’s life-changing that amount of money to us workers on the floor.” Alison also plans to use her winnings to take a well-deserved, and overdue, dream holiday to Elvis’ home, Graceland, with her husband Mal.

She said: “I’ve wanted to go to Graceland since we were married. I always said, ‘If we are still together in 25 years’ time, will you take me to Memphis and re-marry me’? “We’ve been married 40 years now and we still haven’t gone – but we can start planning that now.” And she added: “It’s just an overwhelming amount of money. It makes a massive difference. This job is stressful, and I do want to retire at some point soon. I want to enjoy my life and not have worked it all!”

OVER THE MOON

Alison and her neighbours won the prize as part of People’s Postcode Lottery’s special Christmas campaign, where one postcode was announced as a £50,000 prize winner every day. All the players in the postcode won £50,000 for every ticket they held.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie Mccourt said: “After all her hard work this year I’m over the moon for Alison, and I hope she manages to take her trip to Graceland when it’s safe.”

The draw was promoted by the Ellen Macarthur Foundation, which has received more than £3.3 million in funding, thanks to players of

People’s Postcode Lottery. It’s part of the £650 million-plus raised to date by players for thousands of good causes across Britain and internationally, with a minimum of 32% of ticket sales going directly to charities.
