Arrest after group ‘chase’ through park

-

EXTRA officers were out on patrol in St Ann’s after group of men with weapons chased a young person through a park.

A teenager is in custody in connection with the incident, which was reported to Nottinghamshire Police at around 4.15pm in Windmill Lane on Friday.

A police spokesman said officers were deployed to the area and made attempts to find suspects.

After an area search, they found a 15-year-old boy believed to be linked to the incident and he was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession of drugs.

Police are now appealing for anyone who has any information or footage of the incident to get in touch with police as soon as possible.

It is believed a group of men were chasing a young person through Rocket Park, pictured, and that they may have been carrying bladed weapons.

No-one is reported to have been injured.

Inspector James Walker, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “While we have someone in custody in connection with this incident, it is still very early days in our investigation and we are working hard to establish the circumstances.

“Thankfully, it appears that no-one has been injured in this incident but obviously, the thought of a group running through the streets in this manner is a cause for concern.

“We will have extra officers on patrol in the area to provide reassurance and I would encourage anyone who has any concerns to speak with officers on patrol or report them to us via 101 or, in an emergency, dial 999.

“We take weapons offences very seriously and will be investigating this incident thoroughly in order to take appropriate action against those who are responsible.

“I would ask that anyone who saw anything suspicious, or has any footage of the incident, to get in touch with Nottinghamshire Police as soon as possible on 101 quoting incident number 541 of January 22, 2021.”
