Paying the price for energy firm chaos

-

NOTTINGHAM City Council is or was on the verge of bankruptcy due to an incompetent group of people who are supposedly there to protect the public purse which they failed upon in a dramatic fashion.

Their ineptitude brought a significant shortfall in the council’s budget, which clearly demonstrates their failings.

One reason was this Robin Hood energy firm which they knew was running at a huge loss but continued to plough millions of pounds of taxpayers money into.

But who pays the price for this debacle?

Nottingham City Council has announced that over 270 jobs will be lost to save over £15 million, with cuts in services and the council tax to rise by just under five percent.

Further they will be selling off buildings to raise £100 million to balance the books.

Why are the many being punished for the failings of the few?

The actual perpetrators of this farce seem to have gotten away with it.

No doubt they are still receiving salaries, expenses, allowances, pensions and other perks. It is all so very wrong.

It is bog standard practice for failure to be well rewarded in Britain. When will this despicable practice end?

Sadly the present system works well for the Establishment, not for us little people, so won’t change any time soon.

Come the next local election the chances are the electorate will vote these misfits back into office. I can’t understand why people like to be used and abused in this fashion. Labour in particular are very good at spending and wasting taxpayers’ money then shed crocodile tears when things go wrong.

They need not come to me for my vote. Ain’t going to get it. Richard Mikula
