TRIBUTES have been paid to a “bubbly and caring” Nottingham mum who died suddenly.

Suzanne Gilmore, 39, was described as having a “beautiful soul” by her heartbroken family. The mum, who lived on the Broxtowe estate, leaves behind Ethan, five, and Skylah, seven.

Suzanne’s mum Dianne Hudson, of St Ann’s, said her daughter’s came as a “total shock”.

The 67-year-old said her daughter had suffered from thyroid problems for “a long time” and was also due to have a biopsy for a stomach abscess.

Dianne had the devastating job of explaining to the children what has happened to their mum.

Dianne said: “Skylah said to me ‘is my mummy ever coming home?’

“Their faces light up when they come out of school and think their mum is there waiting to pick them up. I had to tell her that mummy’s never going to wake up again.

“Suzanne was a lovely person. She would help anybody. She was very popular, caring, and she was always joking and laughing. She had a very bubbly personality.”

Before she became ill, Suzanne, the youngest of four siblings, was a housekeeper at Acacia care home, New Basford.

Suzanne told Dianne the night before she died that she “felt dizzy”.

“She said that night ‘I think I might have cancer.’ She was in a lot of pain with her stomach and she had lost a lot of weight. She had been trying to get a doctor’s appointment.

“In the day, I went to school with her to pick up the kids. My daughter was always chatting, I used to say I should’ve called her Gabby.”

Tragically, the next morning Suzanne’s children could not wake her up. Skylah went outside to get help and someone phoned an ambulance for her.

Dianne said: “The police came round to tell me what happened. I couldn’t get a word out. We are all just in shock, it is so unexpected. I have lost my baby daughter.”

Dianne is staying at Suzanne’s house with the children.

“Skylah is wearing her mum’s jumper to school and she keeps talking softly to it and kissing it. She says she is talking to her mummy. Suzanne’s boots are still on the stairs where she left them.”

She said Suzanne’s family and friends have been left devastated as there will be a limit on the number of guests at the funeral.

Dianne said: “People have asked me if they can line the streets for her. People loved her and they’re so shocked that she’s gone. Suzanne had a beautiful soul. She saw a glimmer of hope that she could help other people.
