Over-70s now able to book vaccination
APPOINTMENTS ARE AVAILABLE AT 10 SITES IN COUNTY
PEOPLE aged over 70 can now book a Covid-19 vaccination in Nottinghamshire.
Nottingham City Council announced the news via social media that people in the next priority age group could begin booking their appointments at one of the sites once they received a letter.
Yesterday the council tweeted: “If you are 70 and over and have now received your NHS letter, please book your Covid vaccination. Book online or over the phone on 0115 883 4640.
“There is availability at sites across the city. Please spread this message and help anyone you know over 70 book their jab.”
Lilian Greenwood, Labour MP for Nottingham South, shared the post on her Twitter page.
But the same morning, it was also confirmed the website for booking had crashed due to “technical difficulties”.
The site is now up and running again.
Two types of letters are being sent out to those who are eligible
– one from the local NHS and one from the NHS Covid-19 Vaccination Booking Service. The local letter – sent out by the CCG – will direct patients to local vaccination services. In Nottingham and Nottinghamshire there are now seven Local Vaccination Services alongside three Hospital Hubs. The national letter – from the NHS Covid-19 Vaccination Booking Service – will give the public the option of having the vaccine at a large vaccination centre, or potentially a community pharmacy – although there are no Nottingham or Nottinghamshire pharmacies offering vaccinations at this time. The nearest large vaccination centre is in Mansfield. Local vaccination services are open in: Ashfield Health Village, Kirkby in Ashfield Forest Recreation Ground, Forest Fields, Nottingham Gamston Community Centre, Gamston
King’s Meadow Campus, Lenton Lane, Nottingham
■ Newark Showground, Newark ■ Richard Herrod Centre, Carlton.
