DINERS in Mansfield looking for lockdown luxury will soon be able to tuck in to more than 14 types of gourmet burgers.

Ohannes Burger UK is expanding into the town.

The burger chain opened its first takeaway in Arnold in November 2019, before expanding into Sherwood, Nottingham city centre and soon into Hucknall.

Now it is gearing up to open its Mansfield restaurant, its fifth, after revamping a former barber’s shop opposite the Palace Theatre on Leeming Street.

The branch will offer takeaway and home delivery.

A spokesperson said: “There are four now in Nottingham and we don’t want to put all of our takeaways so close together.

“We want to put at least a few miles between them, and there was a guy who suggested Mansfield so we’ve decided to open one in the town.

“Maybe in the future there could be a second one in Mansfield, but it will be far away from the first one.

“We’re looking for lots of different locations, and in Mansfield I don’t think there are any normal retailers specifically serving gourmet burgers.

“Everybody now is asking for a brand, and Ohannes was proven in Turkey before getting better and better, and deciding to expand abroad, opening up in Nottingham where it is now home.”

Ohannes burgers, in pretzel buns, are made using 100 percent locally sourced beef.

The company also offers a vegetarian option.

The company’s sauces are also produced fresh each day, while the mayonnaise and buns are also handmade.

Of the 14 types of burger, customers will be able to tuck into classic cheeseburgers, pulled beef burgers with salsa, kidney beans and jalapenos, and a peri-peri chicken burger.

Sides include fries, mozzarella sticks, onion rings and buttermilk chicken bites.

The food will be available for delivery on Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat, or for collection from the branch.

There is no official opening date yet for the Mansfield branch, but Ohannes says it will be this month.

The company is also planning to open a branch in West Bridgford, while its Hucknall branch is set to launch “within days”.
