THE heartbroken partner of Jordan Sinnott has told of her devastation that he never got to see the little girl he was desperate to have.

The talented footballer, 25, was killed by a single punch on a night out in Retford in the early hours of January 25 last year.

Those responsible are now behind bars – but for his family there is a life sentence of hurt and pain.

A week before her partner’s funeral, Kelly Bossons, who is from Retford, discovered that she was 12 weeks pregnant with Jordan’s child.

She has since given birth to their daughter Maisie Jordan.

But just over one year on from the tragic event, she says she is “pained” that her baby is growing up without her father.

Speaking from the house the couple shared together, she said: “”I love her [Maisie] so much and see Jordan in her little face, but I am pained that he is not here to enjoy this.

“He was desperate to have a daughter and would have been a great daddy.

“If he was alive, we’d have been planning our wedding while caring for our newborn.”

Jordan’s mother Mel Tait, 52, says she too is still struggling to come to terms with her son’s death.

She said: “I still feel robbed of my funny, kind son. It was a cruel and unnecessary killing.”

Jordan, who was playing for Matlock Town at the time of his death, was on a night out when he was attacked.

Kai Denovan, 23, told him he was a “good-looking lad” who would have “no trouble pulling girls”, unlike himself who was “fat and ginger”.

Believing he was joining in the banter, Jordan said, “Yes, I can see that.. Denovan, who had drunk five pints of Stella, two pints of Strongbow and three double Southern Comfort and lemonades, punched him. Jordan and his pals left the pub but Denovan and Cameron Matthews, 21, hit him despite his willingness to apologise. Matthews floored the footballer, leaving him with a fractured skull. Mr Sinnott died in hospital just hours later after suffering a fractured skull and brain damage in the unprovoked attack. Matthews, of Denman Close, Retford, 22, was jailed for eight years and three months for manslaughter at Nottingham Crown Court. Denovan, of Collins Walk, Retford, 23, was also found guilty of manslaughter, after a trial, and was sentenced to 11 years in prison having been judged to have instigated the attack. Meanwhile Sean Nicholson, of Beechways, Retford, 22, admitted affray in connection with the incident and was sentenced to 14 months. After his death, Kelly also revealed that Jordan saved others’ lives because he was an organ donor.

Those closest to the footballer set up the the Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trust in his memory.

Football shirts were donated from all over the world and later displayed at the footballer’s funeral.

The trust has been busy over the past 12 months doing multiple good deeds in his honour.

On December 31 last year, members of the charity visited the Bradford Forster Square Arches to donate tents and essentials for those sleeping rough.

The charity has also released a video on the anniversary of his death which can be seen on Facebook.
