Treatment table is still far too busy for the Reds

-

NOTTINGHAM Forest have had tough luck with injuries at times this season and the Reds are currently without a number of players.

With a busy few weeks ahead, boss Chris Hughton has been keen not to take any risks with those who may be struggling.

He is close to getting numbers back, however, with Jack Colback and Luke Freeman having recently made their returns.

Here is a look at the current injury situation at the City Ground:

Lewis Grabban: The striker was left out of the squad for Saturday’s 3-0 win away to Wycombe Wanderers after picking up a hamstring problem.

It was a case of being ultra careful with the 33-year-old, who was rested in an abundance of caution ahead of this weekend’s clash with Bournemouth.

Hughton said after the game: “He has a very slight problem with his lower hamstring. We are very hopeful he will be able to train, not in the early part of the week, but the latter.

“It’s definitely not one we are concerned about going forward.”

Sammy Ameobi: The winger was also absent from the group which travelled to Adams Park, having taken a blow to the knee in last Tuesday’s victory over Coventry City.

He was brought off at half-time and was not risked against the Chairboys.

“He felt his knee in the first half of the game on Tuesday, hence why he came off,” said Hughton.

“We thought that he might be fine, but I think the turnaround was too quick. We’ll assess him again on Monday.”

Samba Sow: The midfielder hurt his ankle in the 0-0 draw at home to Barnsley and has missed the last two games.

Hughton said in his pre-match press conference before Wycombe he hoped Sow would be able to get involved in training this week.

Harry Arter: The summer signing has not been involved since the FA Cup win over Cardiff City a month ago, struggling with a calf issue.

On Arter and fellow midfielder Sow, Hughton said before facing the Chairboys: “We are hoping both will play a part in some of the training next week.

“They are continuing to be assessed, but at the moment they are both not available (for Wycombe).”

Ryan Yates: The midfielder’s last appearance was against Middlesbrough last month. A calf injury has kept him out of action since.

Last week, Hughton said: “Ryan Yates will miss the weekend. We’re hoping he’s going to play a part in some training next week. Whether that makes him available for Bournemouth, I don’t know.

“But the signs are he’s quite close, which is good.”
