Volume up after late goal
STEVE Cooper says the Swansea City changing room was the loudest it had been all season after a late Connor Roberts winner against Nottingham Forest.
Wednesday night’s clash at the Liberty Stadium seemed on course to finish 0-0 until a deft finish from Roberts after meeting Jake Bidwell’s cross only three minutes from time.
Swansea manager Cooper saw his side move one point outside the top two with two games in hand over Brentford and Norwich City – and he realised it was no mean feat to get past a Forest side that had only lost one in 11.
He said: “Buzzing. It’s [the dressing room] as loud as it’s been because they probably agree with everything I’m saying. Let them enjoy it.”
He added: “I’m not going to sit here and say we were brilliant in the game, because in parts of the performance we weren’t, especially with the ball.
“At times we struggled to get our positioning right on the pitch and play with enough rhythm and intensity, especially in the first half.
“I just thought the game was heading towards a 0-0 draw.
“Forest are a really good team in good form. They’ve got loads of experienced and talented players.
“We just felt, in the second half, we had to make some tactical changes, get some more attacking players on and get some width and hope things would turn a little bit. It didn’t really but, in the end, we managed to create a good moment to go and win the game.
“I’m delighted with the win but know we will need to play better in the next game.”
Forest now dust themselves down for a home match against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow.
