STRIKER Lewis Grabban has dismissed suggestions he wanted to leave Nottingham Forest as “hot air”.

There has been speculation about the front man over the past year, with former Reds boss Sabri Lamouchi understood to have been keen on linking up with him again.

Lamouchi took charge of Qatari club Al Duhail after being sacked by Forest in October and was interested in signing Grabban before the deadline.

That led to the 33-year-old’s future being thrown into doubt, both during the summer and January transfer windows.

But Grabban, who is under contract until 2022, says he never considered leaving the City Ground and remains committed to the club.

“No, not at all,” he told the Nottingham Post, when asked if the thought crossed his mind.

“I see a lot of people talking. It seems like they know a lot more than I know!

“There’s definitely a lot of people speaking for me at the same time as well.

“I’m at the club and never said I

wanted to leave, never said anything publicly.

“A lot of it is just hot air, to be honest.

“I just do what I need to do. “I understand the first time around, with the Qatar stuff, but I was injured – so how can you move if you’re injured?

“It is what it is. People can say what they want to say.”

It has been a frustrating season for Grabban, along with the rest of the Forest squad.

He has been hampered by injuries and has struggled for the goalscoring touch which saw him find the net 20 times last term.

This time around, he has bagged three goals in 20 appearances as Chris Hughton’s side have found themselves battling at the bottom end of the table.

But the former Bournemouth man insists he has put any transfer rumours firmly behind him, with his focus on putting matters right on the pitch.

“Yeah, of course, hence I’m still here and still in the building,” he added.

“Generally speaking, in the past, if I’m moving, I move. It’s quite simple. “I’m happy here.

“I’d like to be scoring more goals, obviously.

“People maybe attribute not scoring as many to me wanting to leave – you see a load of stuff.

“But I’m just trying to do my job and do as well as possible.”
