PLAYER RATINGS
SAM SLOCOMBE:
Could do nothing about any of the goals as the first was a horrible deflection and, for the second, Notts were carved open by the visitors. The third was a tap-in. 5/10
DION KELLY-EVANS:
Got into a right scrap at times with Sam Higgins, got forward well and produced a peach of a cross which led to the second goal. But tailed off after the break. 4/10
MARK ELLIS:
Couldn’t really attribute any blame to him for any of the goals but if Notts are going to play out from the back the centre-backs undoubtedly need more movement in front of them. 5/10
CONNELL RAWLINSON:
The centre-back has been really solid this season but had a mixed afternoon in the heart of the Magpies’ back four as the visitors made a real fight of it. 4/10
JORDAN BARNETT:
Created the first goal and there was plenty of energy as he offered decent width but got outmuscled on some occasions. 5/10
MICHAEL DOYLE:
The best passer, both short and long-range, but he couldn’t do it all on his own. Struggled when Hornchurch made it a dogfight in the centre of the pitch. 4/10
JAKE REEVES:
Plenty of industry but didn’t really have a defining impact on the game as Notts found the physical approach of Hornchurch hard to handle at times. Missed his spotkick in the shoot-out but that can happen to anyone. 4/10
CALVIN MILLER:
Nice and bright when he collected the ball having played as an inverted winger. Drifted into some good areas in the first half but very quiet in the second. 4/10
RUBEN RODRIGUES:
Scored the second goal which showed his instinct for being in the right place at the right time but was substituted early on after the break. 4/10
ENZIO BOLDEWIJN:
Had an excellent first half but it didn’t quite happen for him after the interval. Was played on his favoured left side but was replaced. 4/10
KYLE WOOTTON:
Had the beating of the Hornchurch centre-backs in the air and grabbed a deserved goal. Could have had a couple more, too, and missed a big chance in the second half. Gets no help. 5/10
