City representatives should be non-political

-

DURING the gloom and uncertain future, it was heart-warming receiving Nottingham Labour Party’s propaganda-laden election newspaper, which instantly brought a beaming smile to my face.

To be honest, I have never seen Bulwell’s elected representatives patrolling the rubbish-strewn and weed-infested streets. We have broken fences, demolished walls, and holes in our roads that resemble bomb craters.

I have yet to hear reports of Bulwell’s councillors doing something positive. These so-called representatives claim Community Support Officers are a way forward. I seem to recall the city council announcing having insufficient finances to continue supporting Community Support Officers.

The former Labour MP and the existing Notts Police and Crime Commissioner wants your vote so he can continue putting people first. Has he forgotten that March 2020 legislation received the Royal Assent that prevented people gatherings? How many public gatherings have the Post reported where Community Support Officers and police just admired the scenery, instead of providing Nottingham’s residents a duty of care.

Nottingham North’s MP is included in the laughable election newspaper, quoted as saying that through his fully-staff office he has helped many thousands of people. I live near his office and can assure everyone that even before the pandemic, his office was not open to the public every day. It seemed to be closed more days than it was open.

What Nottingham urgently needs is non-political community representatives. Removing Labour could prompt a public inquiry that would reveal the millions squandered through their follies. I do not support any political party, especially the elected independents. Without Labour, I might even receive my parking permit. Trevor Rose Bulwell
