Liberal policies have destroyed our society

MR Tony Morris’s letter (“Parents have to take responsibility”, Opinion, April 1) can be described as a social blueprint of what’s gone wrong with society.

Why society has dropped to such an appalling low is the outcome of neoliberal policies that were thrust upon the nation without consideration for the longterm consequences, i.e. the effects of human rights, equal right, and other rights that can be thrown into the mix which make members of society’s underclass feel like superior beings.

Several decades ago respect and tolerance had to be earned.

This was achieved when citizens conducted themselves as they wanted others to treat them.

Ever since Members of Parliament bamboozled the electorate with a catalogue of rights, no person even needed to develop their social skills to fit in, or belong in society, as the law states all people are equal.

Due to successive liberalised lawmaking, the status quo built an unruly stratum of individuals. The authorities have little control over them, as those people lack pride or a moral conscience.

They will eventually take over the inner sanctum of society, becoming the ruling class.

Lawlessness is quickly heading our way as there is no meaningful deterrent for wrongdoing.

Don’t blame the criminals – blame the politicians who lacked foresight, and the public for putting their trust in their political concept.
