Season card renewals boost

NOTTINGHAM Forest fans have been snapping up their seats at the City Ground, as the club hope to welcome back a crowd come August.

After more than a year of games being played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is hoped that will change for the start of the 2021-22 campaign.

In preparation, the club opened up season card renewals last week – and supporters were quick to secure their spots.

More than 2,000 season cards were renewed in the first two days of them going on sale. That is double the first two days of last term, with fans clearly eager to get back to watching the Reds play live.

The last time they were able to do that was on March 6 last year, when the hosts were toppled 3-0 by Millwall.

Forest have frozen the cost of renewing at last season’s prices, with the club saying it is a “thank you” for fans’ “support during these difficult times”.

Prices start at £365 for adults and £35 for concessions, for children aged four to 11.

The renewal process will run through until Friday, June 11, and information on whether season cards will then go on general sale will be released after that.

Chief commercial officer David Cook has said: “The club actively supports the EFL and all football authorities in lobbying for the return of supporters to football stadia as soon as possible.

“We hope to welcome back supporters for the start of the 2021-22 EFL Championship season on the weekend of Saturday, 7th August.

“Please note that all supporter access to football stadia is subject to UK Government approval and the club will update supporters with further information as we receive it from the Government and the EFL over the summer.

“The club sincerely thanks all supporters for your continued support in these unprecedented times. We are delighted to be starting the process of welcoming you back to the City Ground.”
