Victoria Centre’s Mcdonald’s will be delivery-only after 11pm

-

THE Mcdonald’s at Nottingham’s Victoria Centre will soon be closing its doors to the public at 11pm.

The variation in licensing regulations for the Milton Street branch has been given the green light by Nottingham City Council’s licensing committee.

The changes mean delivery hours will be from 11pm to 5pm from Wednesday to Sunday morning.

Customers had been able to go into the restaurant until 2am on those days.

Restaurant owner Jerry Nicholls said: “Students will not be visiting the restaurant in high numbers but will be sat in their accommodation and ordering via an app. I think the noise will go down as there will be fewer people using the restaurant as we go to delivery only.”

He added: “We have quite a large seating area outside and have always had a concern that that would be used over nights and that would cause a disturbance to people in the flats and hotel next door. So we have always closed that area off.

“I have door staff who do that but it can be quite difficult controlling people at 3am who want to sit in those seats and that’s one of the reasons we want to go to delivery so we have no customers around.”

No date has been given for the start of the new hours.

Chairman of the licensing committee Councillor Toby Neal welcomed the 11pm closure but added there must be clear signs on the door to alert customers and that delivery drivers must be warned to observe parking restrictions.
