A BRAZEN drug dealer “would go to any lengths to supply cannabis and cocaine” before he was caught in the act.

Two officers on patrol had followed two men acting suspiciously in Bottle Lane in Nottingham city centre and saw Dale Disney hand over a small package before smelling a strong smell of cannabis.

The 30-year-old, of Roman Drive in Basford, then ran straight into the officers and was arrested.

They found a quantity of cash, cocaine and cannabis, scales and a mobile phone on him.

Disney was released under investigation following the incident at around 12.50pm on January 13.

But he later landed himself in further trouble when officers visited his house over a month later to warn him he was required to attend a voluntary interview – only for him to boast he had cannabis in his possession – which then gave grounds for officers to search his house.

They found cash, weighing scales and cocaine during this search on February 23 and Disney was arrested once again.

Police found phone evidence that linked Disney to an incident on November 8, 2020.

Plain-clothes officers pulled up in an unmarked police car alongside Disney in Hucknall Road, Arnold, after believing he had been driving a car “erratically” at around 8.20pm.

After pulling over, the two officers got a very strong smell of cannabis coming from both him and his vehicle.

They produced a warrant card but Disney shouted and ran away, dropping his mobile phone in the process.

Officers found 36 individually wrapped bags of cannabis and a cannabis cigarette in the car ashtray.

Disney was then arrested, charged and remanded in custody.

He pleaded guilty to five counts of possession with intent to supply class B drugs, one count of supplying class B drugs, one count of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, one count of possessing class A drugs, possession of criminal property and driving without insurance and while disqualified.

He was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court to three years and four months in prison.

Police Constable Malachi Keane said: “Disney was clearly a prolific drug dealer who would go to any lengths to supply cannabis and cocaine in the local community.

“He held no regard for the law and was quite happy to flaunt his criminal activities in public and even right under the nose of officers.

“We’re glad that this investigation has led to a large amount of cannabis, cocaine and cash being taken off the streets and that another drug dealer has been taken out of the supply chain.

“The money will now be subject to a proceeds of crime investigation.”
