‘Assault’ mystery at city school
POLICE are investigating reports of an “extremely serious” alleged assault at a Nottingham school.
Officers were callled to The Trinity Catholic School in Beechdale Road, Aspley,on Thursday, April 29.
The nature of the alleged incident has not been disclosed by the police or the school, but the Post understands it concerns an alleged assault.
The Trinity School in Nottingham is a Catholic secondary school and sixth form with academy status for pupils aged 11 to 18.
In 2020, the school was voted the best state-funded secondary school in Nottingham.
Matthew Shenton, who was appointed as the headteacher, helped lead the school to a “good” Ofsted report in March 2019.
Speaking about the incident, he said: “I can confirm that we are treating an incident that happened in school on Thursday, April 29, extremely seriously.
“We responded quickly to the situation and took appropriate action.
“The incident is a live police investigation, and we continue to work closely with the families involved.”
Detective Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, confirmed that the police were now involved in the investigation andn that no arrests had been made. She said: “We are actively investigating an alleged incident at a local school which was reported on Thursday, April 29.
“We urge young people and parents to refrain from making any speculative comment as this is very much a live investigation.”
