Happy 100 for Miriam
CENTENARIAN WAS IN THE LAND ARMY AND IS NOTTINGHAM BORN AND BRED
MIRIAM Elizabeth Tomlinson has celebrated turning 100 at Anchor Hanover’s Carlton Fold housing scheme in Colwick.
As part of the special celebrations on August 10, Miriam was presented with a birthday cake, flowers, balloons and a telegram from the Queen.
To mark the momentous occasion, she enjoyed a special buffet at Anchor Hanover’s Carlton Fold housing scheme and blew out her 100 candles alongside friends, family and fellow residents.
She was also treated to a special meal out with her family.
Centenarian Miriam, who has lived at Anchor Hanover’s Carlton Fold housing scheme for over 33 years, is Nottingham born and bred.
She was born on Manvers Street where she lived with her family in the only house on the street at the time.
She was part of the Women’s Land Army for four years and then worked at a factory on the site of the current National Ice Centre on Belward Street for over 20 years making boxes.
Miriam was married for 50 years and has a son, Stuart, and granddaughter, Dawn.
Miriam said: “I’ve had a very comfortable life and feel very fortunate to have reached this age.
“A big thank you to all my family, friends and everyone at Carlton Fold housing scheme for making my big day so special.”
Madeline Kirton, manager of Anchor Hanover’s Carlton Fold housing scheme said: “Miriam is a lovely person who has great energy and some amazing stories to tell.
“We wish her a very happy
birthday and it was great that she could celebrate with all her friends here at the housing scheme, as well as her family and friends!”
