Rogers is ready for Cherries

-

RUMOURS of a Nottingham Forest loan move for Manchester City youngster Morgan Rogers look to have been decisively crushed.

The 19-year-old was in the stands at the City Ground for Saturday’s defeat to Bournemouth, but it now appears a temporary move to the Cherries is on the cards.

Halesowen-born Rogers was a surprise attendee at the weekend, with Chris Hughton speculating that he was present to watch former team-mate Brennan Johnson in red and white, but it now appears he was instead there to watch his potential future team-mates in green and black.

Sky Sports say a medical is expected within the next 24 hours ahead of what would be a season-long loan with Scott Parker’s side.

That should perhaps not come as a surprise to Reds fans. When questioned about the youngster after Saturday’s match, Hughton was quick to extinguish any talk of a move for Rogers.

He said: “I was told about it (Rogers watching the game) and the first thing I thought was, he obviously played with Brennan (Johnson) last season at Lincoln (City), so it was brilliant he’s taken the time out to come to see Brennan play.

“That, I think, would be the reason why he was there.”

The teenager impressed during his first loan spell away from Manchester, playing on the left flank with Lincoln after arriving in January.

He chipped in with six goals and four assists and played Michael Appleton’s side through the play-offs, where the Imps lost 2-1 to Blackpool in the final.
