NEW YORK-BASED FIRM AIMS TO MAKE CITY ITS EURO HQ
A NEW York-based recruitment consultancy firm has opened a new office in Nottingham with the aim of making it its European headquarters.
Metric Search, which uses data to help employers find the best people for their businesses, already has offices in New York and London.
The company launched in September 2019 and has already doubled in size and revenue, with plans to double its workforce to more than 50 by the end of next year.
With a focus on the life science, med-tech, and industrial industries, Metric Search has partnered with a number of companies making the Covid-19 vaccine.
Its Nottingham office is at Fenchurch House in King Street, overlooking the Brian Clough statue.
Metric Search’s president Joe Jani, from Colwick, explained why he was keen to see the business set up in the East Midlands.
He said: “It’s very rare a New York company sets up in Nottingham, especially one like ours where we hire young professionals – mainly graduates – and give them an opportunity to make £50,000 or more in the first year out of university.
“To my knowledge, there are not many companies like ours in Nottingham and I truly believe that we could be a really exciting employer for the city.
“This could also open doors for people eventually moving to London or New York.
“I grew up in Nottingham and have a huge affinity with the city.
“Having launched successful offices in New York and London, we saw an opportunity to bring Metric home to Nottingham.
“We are a young and exciting employer and we feel Nottingham is a perfect location for us, with two worldclass universities and an abundance of homegrown talent.
“We believe we can build a really strong team here, whilst providing people with opportunities and a genuine pathway to move to major business hubs in London and New York should they wish.”
And he added: “Being in Nottingham offers us an amazing opportunity to grow Metric. Three of the leadership teams in Nottingham are local, and are passionate about the city.
“We all agree there is a lack of opportunity for young people in Nottingham career-wise, with many having to move out of the city to find exciting positions and grow their careers. “We intend for Nottingham to become our European headquarters. “We aim to be the number-one executive search agency in Nottingham, and more importantly, be recognised as a top employer in the city and be respected in the communities we grew up in.” Operations at the Nottingham office are already under way as the company looks to continue growing from its three bases.
