Blood trails after stabbing at flats

ONE MAN HELD AND ANOTHER IN HOSPITAL AFTER INCIDENT

POLICE issued a statement after a man was taken to hospital and another arrested following a stabbing at a block of flats which left “blood everywhere”.

Emergency services were called to Critchley Street, Ilkeston, in the early hours of yesterday.

People living nearby reported there were at least 10 police officers there.

A trail of blood was visible leading from the car park into a block of flats and up a flight of stairs.

A police dog and its handler were also seen at the flats.

Warren Baker, 32, who said he lived in the flat where the incident took place, said a fight broke out among a group of people and that his friend had been stabbed.

He added: “I went downstairs to call the ambulance. He’s in hospital right now, I think he’ll be all right.”

A Derbyshire Police spokespers­on said: “A 27-year-old man has been arrested after reports of a stabbing in an Ilkeston street.

“Officers were called to Critchley Street at 6.30am to reports of a disturbanc­e. “A 40-year-old man was found with a stab wound and has been taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatenin­g or life-changing.

“A 27-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the incident and remains in police custody.

“Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident – in particular they want to speak to anyone with CCTV that may cover the Critchley Street area, as well as anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured the incident.”
