Residents frustrated by dog fouling on streets
ONE WOMAN IS TOO SCARED TO LET GRANDDAUGHTER PLAY IN GARDEN
RESIDENTS in Keyworth are frustrated by dog fouling on their street.
Grandma and dog owner Jane Vervoorts said: “It winds me up.
“It must be more than one dog because there is so much.”
Jane and her granddaughter Lilly Morgan regularly dog walk around Keyworth.
They usually stick to Keyworth Recreation Ground as “people on the park are pretty good”.
“It’s the ones who walk the streets,” says Ms Vervoorts.
“It tends to be on the pavements a lot more.”
She added how “dangerous” the mess was and she doesn’t even leave her granddaughter unattended in the back garden in case the dogs have left a mess there.
A walker who did not wish to be named told the Post: “The issue is the enforcement of the fine. “I’ve never heard of anyone that’s had the fine enforced.
“I don’t think I’d be concerned about the fine. “I’d be concerned about my conscience of leaving dog muck.” But a Rushcliffe Borough Council spokesperson said: “We have received no reports of any dog fouling in Keyworth in the seven days leading up to August 16 whether direct to the council or our contractors Streetwise who empty the dog bins in this part of the village.” And they added: “We continue to inform dog owners on their responsibilities

including working with partners Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) who undertake patrols and enforce the law administering on the spot fines when appropriate to those who flout the rules across the borough.”
Under current legislation, dog owners have a responsibility to pick up after their dog and dispose of the mess.
Those who don’t are liable to an immediate fine of up to £80 and if this is not paid it could increase to up to £1,000.
