Midfielder could be set for Reds deal

-

NOTTINGHAM Forest are reportedly closing in on the signing of midfielder Braian Ojeda from Paraguayan side Olimpia.

It is being claimed in Ojeda’s native Paraguay by media outlet ABC that Ojeda is set to sign a four-year contract with Forest ahead of the summer transfer deadline with the window closing at 11pm tomorrow.

Ojeda is a central midfielder who appeared 22 times for Olimpia last season including nine outings in the Copa Libertadores, the South American equivalent of the Champions League.

Forest brought James Garner back on loan from Manchester United and also have Ryan Yates, Cafu, Jack Colback and Harry Arter who can play in that position.

Garner and Yates is Chris Hughton’s starting midfield for Forest in a 4-2-3-1 formation and that duo started the 1-1 East Midlands Derby draw with Derby County at Pride Park on Saturday.

On Arter, who has been linked with a move away from the City Ground this summer, Charlton Athletic boss Nigel Adkins was asked about a move for the former AFC Bournemouth man.

“I am aware of that,” Adkins said.

“There’s a lot of things going on, so you’re going to have to watch this space.

“I suppose, at the end of the day when somebody has signed a piece of paper and is announced as our player, then they’re announced as our player.

“I think you’ll find it could be quite an interesting three days over the weekend and going into Tuesday evening.”

Former Derby full-back Max Lowe became Forest’s fifth summer signing on Friday when he signed on loan from Sheffield United and the Reds could still bring in more players before tomorrow night’s transfer deadline.
