PARENTS at a Nottingham primary school are worried for the safety of their children now Covid measures have been scrapped.

They raised their concerns after Forest Fields Primary School removed safety rules brought in before the summer holiday in line with the latest Government guidance and the relaxation of rules that came into force on July 19.

Grouping pupils into protective bubbles in schools, colleges and nurseries in England is no longer required, and neither are other measures.

However, worried parents say they are concerned for the safety of their children and have called for the safety measures to be reintroduced.

The call came as pupils returned to class on Thursday.

Mum of two Florentina Rafail, 23, of Burford Road, said she is “seriously concerned” about the safety of her children.

She added: “I think that our children’s safety should be a priority.

“It is not safe to have them all leaving the school at the same time.

“It is dangerous. They risk getting infected and we do as well when we go to pick them up for school.

“Although wearing a mask is no longer mandatory, I am still concerned about the virus.

“I think they should reintroduce the safety measures.”

Housewife Janed Ahmad, 44, of Tissington Road, has two children at the school.

She added: “I am concerned about it.

“I think it would be just a matter of time until the numbers go high again.

“They should prioritise everyone’s safety.

“It was much better before.” However, some parents think that scrapping the previous safety measures is sensible because “children are at risk to catch the virus either way”.

Housewife Adriana Szabo, 38, of Tissington Road, added: “I do not think that we should be alarmed.

“Children will catch it either way.

“They are always mixing and the staggered times did not make a huge difference.

“It is the parents’ responsibility “A spokesperson for Forest Fields Primary School said: “If any of our parents do have a particular concern, we encourage them to come and speak to us at the school office.”
