A STREET dealer was caught with two Kinder Eggs containing 16 wraps of heroin in an Adidas man bag, a court heard.

Jamie Stanton had been with his girlfriend, Melissa Gration, in the street on September 15, 2019.

When Gration was asked if she had anything she should not have, she said she had a bag (not the man bag), of Mamba on her and handed it to police.

Stanton’s man bag had 12 wraps of Mamba inside, worth between £60 to £120, and the two Kinder Eggs with the 16 wraps inside valued at £120, Nottingham Crown Court heard yesterday.

Stanton, who was homeless at the time, had claimed to police he found the bag in a jitty.

Stanton pleaded guilty to possessing the drugs with intent to supply and was jailed for three years, of

which he will serve half and the remainder on licence.

Judge Rosalind Coe QC told him it was “apparent you were street dealing”.

Joe Harvey, mitigating for Stanton, said his client has had drug difficulties for the vast majority of his life. Alcohol difficulties graduated to drug difficulties.

As a habitual user of heroin and crack cocaine, Stanton, who now shares the same address as Gration in Nelson Street, Heanor, was buying drugs to satisfy his addiction and selling the surplus.

Gration, 28, submitted a prepared statement where she said the contents of the man bag belonged to 32-year-old Stanton.

Further Mamba was found on her when she was arrested.

Gareth Gimson, representing her, said she is on Universal Credit.

She pleaded guilty to possessing Mamba.

“She presents as naive,” he told the court, before she was given a 12-month conditional discharge. “She is a young woman not without her problems.”
