NOMINATIONS have opened for the 2021 Nottinghamshire Live Women in Business Awards.

The annual awards celebrate the achievements of outstanding female entrepreneurs and businesswomen in Nottingham and across Nottinghamshire – and there are just a few weeks for entrants to nominate themselves or people they think deserve to be recognised.

The last time the awards were held, in 2019, the winners included Charlotte Cox, global brands director of Canterbury, who was named Businesswoman of the Year. The company is part of Speedo owner Pentland Brands, which brought Canterbury and Mitre to Nottingham two years ago.

The other 2019 editor’s choice award, for lifetime achievement, went to Jackie Lymn Rose, a company director at AW Lymn funeral directors.

The awards will be hosted this autumn in partnership with headline sponsor Hillarys – a Nottingham business which has been supplying blinds, curtains and shutters to its customers for five decades. Category sponsors include the law firms Eversheds Sutherland and Browne Jacobson.

Nottingham Live editor Natalie Fahy said: “Now more than ever we should be celebrating our female captains of industry – from the CEOS and finance bosses of our top companies, to high-flying career accountants and lawyers, ‘mumpreneurs’ and ‘entrepreneurs.’”

The awards will highlight the achievements of a vast range of businesswomen from across the county – from honouring industry leaders to sole traders, flying the flag for women in business, and hopefully creating female role models to inspire future generations.

Natalie added: “As editor of Notachievement; tinghamshire Live and our sister titles Derbyshire Live and Lincolnshire Live, I am incredibly keen to support and encourage the professional and personal development of women.

“Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are full of successful female businesswomen and in my job I am lucky enough to not just support them but also to work alongside them in all sorts of areas.

“Right now it is incredibly important to champion them as they have so much to offer the post-covid recovery of our region.”

Founded in Nottingham 50 years ago, award-winning Hillarys is dedicated to ensuring customers find the right blinds, curtains and shutters to suit their style and budget.

Hillarys marketing director Susan White says: “Hillarys is delighted to headline sponsor the Nottingham-shirelive Women in Business Awards for the third year.

“Shining a light on the achievement of women in the workplace is something we are extremely passionate about as a business.

“Women make up more than 60 percent of our workforce and we continually look for ways to support them, whether it’s back into work after maternity leave, flexible working, life stage counselling or initiatives that help empower women to lead happier and healthier lives.”

The annual awards are now in their eighth year and the categories are apprentice of the year; sole trader; rising star; best female in construction; inspirational woman of the year; public service award; new business of the year; technology award; entrepreneur of the year; female executive of the year; small business of the year; lifetime and businesswoman of the year.

After the nomination closing date on Friday, October 8, three finalists will be shortlisted within each category by an independent judging panel.
