Rev Kate strips off for art’s sake
SHE JOINS CELEBRITIES POSING FOR LIFE DRAWING CLASSES
REVEREND Kate Bottley has stripped off for a new BBC life-drawing programme in which she poses as a life model.
The Radio 2 star, from North Nottinghamshire, has partnered up with Strictly Come Dancing’s Ian Waite to take part in the life-drawing programme.
The BBC have advertised Life Drawing Live! as the “UK’S largestever live life-drawing masterclass” in which experts guide celebrity amateur artists.
In a special short film shot at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, Kate and Ian will attempt to encourage people to get involved in life drawing.
Kate is seen posing on a sofa with only a thin blue robe to hide her modesty.
The show’s professional artist Adebanji Alade aims to get the public to draw the celebrities.
Kate said: “The film for Life Drawing Live! was fun and empowering to be part of. I expected to feel nervous and vulnerable. It wasn’t like that. I felt safe and amongst friends.
“What I wasn’t expecting was to feel such a connection to the people drawing me. It was the perfect socially distanced group activity!”
“And the drawings were a joy.” Ian added. “I’ve always been into drawing, even at school I was known as the artist! I think drawing can transport you to another place and be very therapeutic, so I was delighted to model for Life Drawing Live.”
Adebanji Alade said: “It was great to have Kate and Ian as models for the day and I loved the way they engaged and interacted with the public.
“The vibe on the day was simply amazing, watching people from all walks of life take a step of courage to try out life drawing was a great sight.
“I’m a great advocate for everyone picking up a pencil and paper to try out drawing. I believe we all have the ability and capacity to do it and enjoy it.”
BBC4 also offer a “pose cam” which gives viewers a chance to see a “fixed-camera view” of the models posing for those at home wishing to have a go at drawing.
Comedian Joe Lycett will host the show, which airs on BBC2 and BBC4 at 9pm-11pm on Sundays.
