Potential for animal lovers to find purr-fect new venture
NOTTS KENNELS, CATTERY AND FOUR-BED DETACHED UP FOR SALE AT £650K
THE owners of a family-run boarding kennels and cattery in Nottinghamshire are putting their business up for sale.
And it could be just purr-fect for animal lovers who fancy running their own business.
With a rise in pet ownership during the pandemic and now the reopening of travel from the UK, it’s a business that the selling agent says is right for the times. In fact, the business owners say they have had more demand than they can accommodate during the summer months.
Callum Pollard, customer service executive at Blacks Business Brokers, said: “Arguably there has never been a better time to invest in a business like this. With huge pentup demand for foreign holidays, all those new lockdown pets are going to need to be looked after as travel restrictions lift and their owners head for the airport.”
The current owners of the business near Kirkby in Ashfield, David and Pamela Ibrahim, bought the business and the neighbouring detached bungalow in 2015, however, reveal that it’s a business that has been established for more than 50 years.
Now planning to emigrate, the couple plan to sell the business, which provides 33 kennel and eight cattery spaces, as well as the residential premises on the site for £649,995.
Callum Pollard said: “Kirkby Kennels & Cattery has established a solid, loyal client base over more half a century, and the inclusion of a large residential property in the sale means that a new owner would not only have a turnkey business but also a new home or, possibly, manager’s accommodation.
“There is also scope to expand the business, which currently has more demand than it can accommodate during the summer months. Given the size of the plot, another 30 kennels could easily be added, and a concerted marketing drive could further add to demand year-round.”
Annual turnover disclosed on the selling details is £71,741.
In addition to boarding for dogs and cats the business also cares for smaller pets, including rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and reptiles.
The business operates from two buildings, which include a reception area and purpose-built pet accommodation, set in an acre of land. The plot also houses a detached fourbedroom bungalow with double garage, which is included in the sale price.
