PLANS for a dessert cafe in Warsop have been submitted by a growing family business.

It would replace the former Lloyds Bank branch in Sherwood Street, which closed in November 2018.

Bsweet currently operates in Wheeler Gate in Nottingham city centre and in Westgate, Southwell.

A design and access statement submitted to Mansfield District Council said the shop intends to sell sundaes, cakes, pancakes, waffles, ice cream, cheesecakes, puddings, drinks and savouries.

Officials are keen to encourage new businesses in the area due to high levels of unemployment in recent years.

The company said their plans will lead to the creation of seven new jobs.

“The site is within the town centre conservation area, and the proposed minor alterations will enhance the fabric of the closed former bank,” the company said in a statement.

“It will improve the street scene by reducing the number of already closed units and offering a new family food take away service with an integrated manufacturing and distribution business creating local jobs and accommodation in the region.”

The statement concluded by saying that the cafe would constitute sustainable development in Warsop.

The Post’s food and drink writer Lynette Pinchess previously said of the Wheeler Gate branch: “The pretty decor serves as an ideal backdrop for the mesmerising array of sweet treats, from a Cherry Fantasy sundae and Strawberry Roller Coaster Donut Apocalypse monster shake to an ice cream sculpted like a rose and an elegant afternoon tea.

“Bsweet lives up to its name with a menu of gloriously decadent sundaes, cakes, pancakes (made from a secret recipe), cheesecakes, waffles and puddings.

“Everything is freshly made in the store by Magdalena [Birinci], who frequently visits expert dessert makers all over Italy to learn the latest techniques.

“More than 32 different flavours of ‘healthy’ ice cream are on sale in flavours including rose, salted pistachio, mango, passion fruit, banana and hazelnut.

“It’s luxuriously creamy – and you’d never guess, it is made with olive oil, making it vegan friendly. As well as non-dairy, it’s sucrose free.

“There’s also a number of dairy ice creams, such as Oreo, Raffalo, chocolate orange and Scottish biscuit.”
