Indie superstar Cinnamon plans huge city show
EMBANKMENT HOSTS MEADOWLANDS
CHART-TOPPING, stadium-filling indie star Gerry Cinnamon will headline the first of a series of new live music events at the Victoria Embankment.
Meadowlands – taking place over the Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend taking place from June 3 next year – will feature a variety of music acts across multiple stages with its sights set on becoming one of the biggest music events in the city’s history.
Cinnamon’s performance announcement comes after his penultimate festival slots at Reading and Leeds.
The Embankment appearance will be one of only a handful of outdoor UK shows his fans in summer next year. His tour also includes a sold-out hometown show in Glasgow’s Hampden Park national stadium.
Tickets, costing from £45, went on sale today at eventim.co.uk.
Promoters Daniel Ealam and Scott O’neill, of FKP Scorpio, said: “We are so excited to be announcing Gerry Cinnamon as our first headliner of the inaugural Meadowlands festival series.
“Meadowlands will bring the finest international, national and local artists to Victoria Embankment in the amazing music city of Nottingham.”
Councillor Eunice Campbell-clark, portfolio holder for leisure, culture and schools for Nottingham City Council, said: “Meadowlands promises to bring some of the very best indie artists to Nottingham, along with a significant economic boost for the city’s events and hospitality sectors, which have suffered during the pandemic.
“We’re happy to be working with FKP Scorpio to ensure this exciting event is a success for everyone.”
In April last year, Gerry’s second album The Bonny shot straight to Number 1 in the UK Official Album Charts. The album was the third biggest selling UK album of 2020 and his last tour was the largest for 2019 UK tickets sales.
Lionel Richie was due to perform at the Victoria Embankment in June – but the gig didn’t fit in with the Government’s roadmap out of Covid restrictions.
