History inspiring and not a burden to new boss

Having met with owner Evangelos Marinakis and the man who hired him in Murphy, Cooper says he cannot wait to walk down the tunnel for the first time and to hear Mull of Kintyre from the home dugout.

“There’ll be real pride and I have that humility for who I’m representi­ng, but there’s a real determinat­ion to succeed and I can’t wait,” he said when asked how he will feel when he takes charge of the team today.

“I’ll probably be nervous but I like that. That’s how it should be.

“I’m glad supporters are back because of what everyone has been through the two years and football needs supporters in. There’ll be excitement you feel that is unique in this role. I can’t wait.”
