Samba: Team spirit so strong at Reds

AFTER HEROICS IN DRAW WITH HATTERS, KEEPER SETS SIGHTS ON GETTING THREE POINTS AGAINST BAGGIES TONIGHT

- By EMMA JAMES

NOTTINGHAM Forest keeper Brice Samba says the Reds have a “good spirit” as they prepare to travel to face West Bromwich Albion in the Championship tonight (8pm).

Samba was man of the match after making a penalty save to help Forest claim a point in a goalless draw with Luton Town at the City Ground on Tuesday night.

Now, the Reds prepare to take on the third-placed Baggies, who have not won since the start of the month. They also fired blanks on Tuesday night, drawing 0-0 at Blackpool.

Samba says Forest are fully focused in a tough run of games.

“We have a good spirit, every player is a top man and everyone is ready to play. The gaffer says exactly the same, we need everybody in the squad,” Samba told Forest’s website.

“We play every three days and if you aren’t at your 100 per cent best in those three days, then you can’t win.

“It’s a tough league and it’s not easy, but we keep going.”

Samba was “disappointed” that Forest were unable to claim all three points against Luton after making a “lucky” penalty save. He also made a fine stop in the closing stages to keep the Hatters at bay, as Forest finished with 10 men after Jack Colback was sent off.

“I was a little bit lucky because (the penalty) hit the bottom of my foot, so it was good for me,” he added. “Luton were pushing hard and played well, so my job is to make saves.

“It’s a good point but I’m disappointed because we couldn’t get the three points. The gaffer said at half-time that we need to play better to win this game, but unfortunately, we got the red card.

“We didn’t lose, which is the most important thing, so hopefully we can get the three points tonight.”
