Driver hurt in thug attack

VICTIM SUFFERED HEAD WOUND AFTER REFUSING TO GIVE VIOLENT STRANGER A LIFT

A MAN suffered a head wound that needed closing with glue after being beaten with a pole when he refused to give a stranger a lift.

The victim had just parked near an address in Godfreys Court, Worksop, when he was approached by an unknown man asking for a lift, at about 6.55pm on Saturday, November 27.

After being refused, the thug became violent as the victim attempted to close the door of the address to get away.

The attacker then followed him inside and hit him around the head with a metal pole, smashing his phone and demanding his bank card, PIN and car keys.

He then fled the address before driving away at speed in the victim’s blue car, which is yet be recovered.

The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment to a bruised and swollen eye and a gash on the top of his forehead.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to help them piece together what happened and trace the suspect and stolen vehicle.

Detective Constable Chloe Baugh, of Nottingham­shire Police, said: “This was a nasty and scary incident for the victim and resulted in him having to seek hospital attention.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have any informatio­n or CCTV footage to get in touch and help us with our investigat­ion.

“If anyone has any informatio­n on what happened and has not already spoken to officers, we would like to hear from them as soon as possible to help trace the suspect and the stolen car.”

Anyone with any informatio­n, CCTV or dash-cam footage is asked to contact Nottingham­shire Police on 101, quoting incident number 635 of November 27.
