Ed Sheeran praises ‘incredible’ festive chart-toppers Ladbaby

SINGER Ed Sheeran has hailed Nottingham’s Ladbaby as “incredible” after the Youtube stars and charity campaigner­s scooped the UK’S Christmas number one single for a recordbrea­king fourth year in a row.

Mark Hoyle and wife Roxanne broke a long-held record by becoming the first act to score four consecutiv­e Christmas number ones, overtaking the Spice Girls and The Beatles.

Sausage Rolls For Everyone, a collaborat­ion with Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John, went to the top on Christmas Eve.

Ladbaby’s annual sausage rollthemed singles raise money for foodbank charity the Trussell Trust.

Speaking on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show, Sheeran said: “Mark, Rox, congratula­tions on breaking a world record and getting the fourth consecutiv­e Christmas number one in a row, you’ve now surpassed The Beatles – this is fantastic.

“You do such amazing, amazing stuff for charity and none of it is not seen by everyone.

“I know that sometimes stuff online can be written and it can get you down. But the whole country loves you so much and you do such amazing things.

“Christmas number one is literally the hardest thing to do and you’ve done four in a row and it’s incredible.”

Mark replied: “That’s amazing. I can’t thank him or Elton enough for helping us do it this year and we’re trying to spread the power of sausage rolls, spread some positivity and raise as much money as we can.”

Sheeran had come second with his song Merry Christmas featuring Sir Elton John, both of whom joined Ladbaby to remix the song into winning track Sausage Rolls For Everyone.

“It’s just unbelievab­le.”
