Father’s desperate plea for Huw to ‘get in touch’

MISSING MAN WAS LAST SEEN IN SHERWOOD IN MAY

THE father of missing man Huw Williams has issued a desperate appeal for him to get in touch with his family who miss him “hugely”.

Huw, 25, from Chester, was first reported missing back in May this year after seemingly vanishing from the Sherwood area of Nottingham, where he had been staying prior to the dissapearance.

Since then, there have been no sightings at all of Huw, pictured, for months, leaving his family and friends in limbo and longing for him to get in touch..

His family describe Huw, who has autism, as a deeply caring and loving person who makes friends easily.

Huw’s dad Steve told the Post: “He really does put others in front of himself. He cares for others and he is a wonderful person for that reason.

“People warm to him and he’s really open with people.

“That really warm-hearted nature is at the heart of who he is. And we hope, in some ways, that will be the sort of self-defence mechanism that would have maybe helped him get a job.

“Because he would walk into any sort of cafe, bar, restaurant, and engage with the people there and get a job immediately.

“There’s an irony in that he’s supposed to have poor communication through his autism – which he has – but it doesn’t manifest itself in his ability to engage with people.

“He’s more open and more engaging and makes friends more immediately than most people. He looks at people for who they are and takes them for who they are and that’s what makes him such a lovely person.

“He makes friends with everybody. That’s very much who he is and what makes him such a special person as well.”

For his family, it’s been an extremely difficult year – and it was even more difficult over Christmas.

They are desperately appealing for Huw to get in touch and say they miss him “hugely”.

“We’ve had a very difficult time, obviously” Steve continued.

“We’ve come back round to where we were in the first place. I genuinely think that he’s needed to get away to find some space for himself and sort himself out and get his head in the right place.

“But for us that is obviously very difficult. We’ve come back round to just hoping that he is safe and well.

“He’s extremely resilient. I see him being somewhere, having got a job but still trying to sort himself out.

“But I suppose the difficult part of Christmas is that we’re a very close family and despite missing birthdays throughout the year, I at Christmas he will be, inside, hurting, just as we are.

“We would dearly love him to just get in touch and let us know he is safe because we all miss him. “We all miss him hugely.”

A house in Sherwood, Huw’s last known address, was searched by police back in July.

However, police are no longer actively pursuing that line of inquiry.

The detective in charge of the police’s search for Huw previously told the Post he could be “anywhere”.

Huw is described as 6ft 2ins tall, of thin build, with bushy brown hair and a full beard.

He has two tattoos on his arms – one is of a fish on his right forearm and one is of a black and white skull on his left bicep.

He was last seen wearing a chequered shirt, dark blue trousers and trainers with reflective silver stripes. He may also have a green waterproof jacket with him.

He also likes to listen to music and is well known for wearing headphones.

If you have seen Huw, or have any information regarding his whereabouts, please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 70 of May 6.
