RETAIL PARK SO CONVENIENT FOR RESIDENTS

RESIDENTS say they “love” the convenience and variety of the wide choice for shoppers in their area.

People from Nether Pastures, Netherfield, are surrounded by stores at Victoria Retail Park, Netherfield Lidl and the new Sainsbury’s superstore on Colwick Loop Road.

They are also within walking distance of large supermarkets like Next, Marks and Spencer and JD Sports, as well as places to eat and drink like Nando’s and Starbucks.

Zoe Spencer, 26, a project manager who lives on the street, said the shopping choices swung her and her partner’s decision to move in.

She said: “I love it. There is no need to go anywhere else really, I don’t remember the last time I went into town.

“Working from home, it’s great because I can just pop out to get a coffee or get lunch.

“It swayed it for us moving here I think. The selling point for my partner was the Nando’s being built before we moved here.

“I walk up there most days to be honest – there’s even a vets in the pet shop where I take my dog.

“When my friends from Sheffield come over they tell me that they’re going shopping first. I’ve done most of my Christmas shopping around here.”

Patrick Clark, 45, who has lived on Nether Pastures for 20 years and works at Tesco, said: “Everything you need is right there – it’s like a high street outside your door. There has always been a retail park here but it’s a fairly nice bonus to living here.

“It’s not even noisy when you consider how many people come in and out nearby.

“I think we could maybe do with some more restaurants, though, to replace the Costa that moved and the units that are empty.”

Rachel Snarr, 43, a full-time carer and mother-of-five who has lived there for 10 years, said the shopping choices were a major plus.

She said: “It’s convenient and good for house prices, houses that go up for sale or rent go very quickly.

“The new Sainsbury’s is good, I picked up some Christmas presents from the Argos in there the other day.

“It is a nice and quiet cul-de-sac most of the time, although sometimes at night there are a few loud lorries coming round at around 10pm.

“Weekends are a bit of a nightmare and Christmas sopping can make it hard to get back in but it’s more good than bad.”

Ruxandra Moraru, 26, a PHD student, said: “There is no need to go anywhere further away – it’s very convenient.

“I mostly go out for food shopping and I tend to vary between them and now we’ve got the new Sainsbury’s not far away too.

“The traffic can get bad but the thing with living here, so close, is you can just walk and get what you need.”

Jess Leake, 23, a full-time mum who lives on Nether Pasture, said: “From where we live it’s a very quick visit and there’s a lot of choice when it comes to shop.

“It’s pretty much got everything you could want.

“I got some of my Christmas shopping done there.

“There is quite a lot of traffic around here, though.

“But is more of a convenience than it is a drawback.”
