DEVELOPER REVEALS PLANS FOR ‘LOFT-STYLE’ LIVING

NEW images have shown what a mill that has been empty for 20 years could look like if it is transformed into high-end flats.

Developers hope to soon convert three vacant buildings at the Crocus Street site in The Meadows into apartments for a range of occupiers including young professionals.

The conversion is expected to create about 30 apartments, which developers say will be of the “highest specification” of loft-style living with underfloor heating and granite counter tops.

Development director Richard Singh said: “BSP Holdings has undertaken a large number of restorations and conversions of buildings such as this in Nottingham.

“The building is currently in a very poor condition and we love bringing these disused buildings back to use and helping to regenerate the local areas.

“They will be built to the highest specification, with underfloor heating and granite countertops, along with the high-beam ceilings from the original buildings and exposed brickwork.

“Our proposed conversion of Crocus Mill forms part of the Southside regeneration which seems to getting stronger and stronger and will bring much-needed residential apartments to the local area.”

The buildings date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries and were most recently used for storage.

In the 20 years that the site has been vacant it has fallen into a very poor state and has been vandalised with graffiti.

A small extension to the existing buildings is planned to create a new main entrance to the site.

Developers BSP Holdings are working with Boden associates architects on the project.

If given planning permission, work on the site could start in 2022 and complete by December 2023.
