Knives seized and arrest made after ‘dispute over music’

A WOMAN was reportedly punched in the face and threatened with a knife after a dispute over music.

It happened after the woman went to address in Shelford Rise, Bakersfiel­d to address the issue, according to Nottingham­shire Police.

Officers were called to the scene shortly before midnight on Wednesday and arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of assault and affray. He remains in custody, the force reported.

Two kitchen knives were also seized from the property after a police search.

Sergeant Elizabeth Johnson, from Nottingham­shire Police, said: “The behaviour that has been reported is absolutely unacceptab­le and officers were quickly on hand to help when this call was received.

“Officers also recovered two knives, which are now out of circulatio­n and are being safely stored.

“The woman suffered an injury to her lip but whilst clearly she was left shaken from the incident, thankfully she is thought to be recovering.

“We would stress and remind people of the devastatin­g consequenc­es that even one punch can have and we will always take swift action when we become aware of an incident of this nature, and particular­ly where further threats are thought to be made.

“We would like to reassure people that we believe those suspected of being involved are known to each other and that there is no wider risk to the public.

“Local officers will also continue to be active throughout the area and we would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to them.

“The investigat­ion into this incident is ongoing and we continue to conduct enquiries. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any informatio­n is asked to call 101, quoting incident 710 of 29 December 2021.”
