Another day, another woman killed by a man
ANOTHER young woman (Kirsty Louise Ashley) has lost her life to the violence of men. One must ask whether we still have a Neanderthal strait within some of the 33 million men who live in the United Kingdom, who also practise or participate in misogynistic behaviour that demeans and insults women.
A day does not go by with without a female – whether it is teenagers or women – being murdered or seriously assaulted.
Over the years I have seen numerous incidences of domestic abuse, and I give praise to those who stand and highlight this heinous crime, mentioned in a recent edition of this newspaper, which has a wide spectrum of elements, but all as serious as the other, physical and sexual assault, including rape which some men deem legal in their eyes as it’s their congenital right, being married or having a partner.
As most readers will be aware, a small minority of men cannot accept or comprehend the word “No” as it does not come within their vocabulary.
They cannot accept that relationships break down and circumstances change, and they resort to numerous other forms of abuse, blackmail, and control to maintain their status and control selfishly.
Whether it’s bad parenting, alcohol or drug abuse, stressful circumstances or sexual health issues, nothing warrants physical or sexual abuse of a partner.
My father instilled into my brothers and I that a man does not strike, assault, or abuse a woman. To do so make you less of a man. A lot of men who cannot accept equality and diversity. Until they are educated, to respect and acknowledge women, violence and abuse will continue against women.
But I hasten to add that not all men should be tarred with the same brush and men can also be victims of the above in varying severities.
