‘I’ll never forget it as long as I live’

NEIGHBOUR’S HORROR AT MURDER NEXT DOOR – AND DISGUST AT TV’S VERSION OF IT

THE woman who lives at a house in Mansfield where two bodies were dug up in October 2013 said it’s something she “will never forget as long as she lives”.

Susan and Christopher Edwards were found guilty of murdering Patricia and William Wycherley, who were shot dead in their home at Blenheim Close in 1998.

The Edwards buried the bodies and got away with their crime for 15 years, before eventually handing themselves in after fleeing to France.

Both were jailed for a minimum of 25 years.

Sue Bramley, 52, has lived on Blenheim Close with her daughter since 2007, said: “It was a huge shock – I still don’t have the words to describe it to this day.

“I couldn’t quite take it all on board. One guy said to me this will all be forgotten about in 12 months’ time, but it’s something now I’ll never forget as long as I live. I never thought this story would still be going.

“At that time, it never crossed my mind to move out, as it was about getting through each day as it came. I couldn’t afford another deposit to move anyway.

“People have asked how I can still live here, but they’re not in my garden anymore, having lived here all this time with them.”

Four-part drama Landscapers, based on the case and starring Olivia Colman was recently shown on Sky.

Sue was not impressed. She said: “I think it’s made a mockery of something that’s horrific, having lived through it all.

“It’s nothing like how it’s portrayed – it’s rubbish. Considering what good actors are in it, it could have been so much better.

“It’s portrayed as a black comedy but I switched it off after the first episode – I was done with it.”

Neighbours also shared their views on what happened.

John Ward, 71, a retired police officer and Armed Forces veteran, said he joked with Sue that police would be looking for bodies beforehand. He said: “I remember one day, Sue came round to ours to say police want to dig her garden up, and I joked with her saying they were looking for bodies.

“Next thing you know, a tent went up and the bodies were found.”
