FUTURE VISIONS

-

WITH many games due for release last year being delayed because of that pesky pandemic, it looks like 2022 will be a bumper year for new releases. Here are ten which have our interest very much piqued.

POKEMON LEGENDS: ARCEUS (Switch)

With Brilliant Diamond reminding me of the joys of exploring Sinnoh, the thought of galloping across its lush plains on a golden antlered Wyrdeer gives me a Pokemon smile.

HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST (PS4/5)

Aloy is back! Taking on mechanical monsters in a ruined America was always fun and now you can tackle the beasts below water too.

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD 2 (Switch)

Link is back! Well, we think it’s him as you can’t see his face in the teaser trailer but it’s the sequel to arguably the finest title in the stellar series so it could star Lord Sugar and we’d still want to play it.

GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK (PS4/5)

Kratos is back! The extreme parenting simulator returns with the young Atreus now entering his “difficult teen years”. Acne may not be his biggest challenge, we sense.

STRAY (PC/PS4/5)

I always thought I was a dog person but this intriguing adventure, which casts you as a cat lost in a city of robots, could turn me to the dark side.

STARFIELD (Xbox/pc)

Details are still fairly scarce on this intriguing title, touted as Skyrim in space. It certainly has the potential to be epic in scale though.

MONSTER HUNTER RISE: SUNBREAK (Switch/pc)

Moving the action from the East to the East of Europe, expect some vampiric themes and plenty of new monsters in this massive expansion.

SIFU (Ps/xbox)

From the makers of the unique Absolver, this king fu sim seems hugely authentic and also hugely fun as your character ages with every defeat.

ELDEN RING (Ps/xbox)

Dark Souls goes open world is essentially what we have here – and it looks stunning – drawing inspiration from Breath of the Wild rather than Ubisoft’s busywork approach, thankfully.

STALKER 2 (Xbox/pc)

Creepy radioactive wastelands and survival horror are the flavour here in this long awaited sequel. Jamie Salmon
