NOTTINGHAM Forest prospect Jayden Richardson will remain with Notts County for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old wing-back has impressed during an initial loan spell at Meadow Lane.

That was due to end after today’s National League trip to face Dover Athletic but a deal has now been struck for the player to stay with the Magpies until the end of the campaign.

Richardson has enjoyed a perfect record with Notts so far, winning all three games he has been involved in and contributing two assists and a goal.

“Keeping Jayden is a huge boost for us,” said head coach Ian Burchnall. “He’s added another dimension to our attack with his pace and power - and he’s shown what an excellent end product he has, too.

“I’ve had really positive dialogue with both Forest and Jayden throughout his time with us and they’re both really happy with the environment we’re providing and the style of play we’re implementing.

“Being able to loan such talented young players like Jayden, Anthony Patterson, Connor Parsons and Zak Brunt shows what an attractive proposition we are and can only bode well for the future.”

There was some more transfer news yesterday, with Sunderland temporarily recalling goalkeeper Anthony Patterson from his loan spell with Notts.

Patterson has been recalled due to Covid cases at the Stadium of Light but will return to Meadow Lane next week.

Notts said in a statement: “The Black Cats have recorded a number of positive cases in their first-team squad, meaning Patterson is required for their Sky Bet League One matches against Wycombe Wanderers (Saturday) and Lincoln City (Tuesday).

“Patterson will then return to Meadow Lane to resume his loan spell until the end of the season.

“We wish all Sunderland players affected a speedy recovery.”
