TRIBUTES have been paid to a “bubbly” dad and Nottingham Forest fan whose family laid out ribbons on Trent Bridge after his death.

The funeral of Terry Larkin, 50, who grew up in the Meadows but lived in Clifton for the last three years, was held on January 6 following his death on November 30.

He had previously worked as a security guard at the Nottingham Forest shop before suffering a brain injury in 2018.

His sister, Jacqueline Larkin, described him as a “massive and life-long Forest fan”.

“He would listen to all the games and go to certain ones,” the 42-yearold told the Post.

“He was very well loved. He was a man about the town so he knew people from all over the place.

“He was a bubbly, friendly man who would talk to anyone and liked socialising with other people.”

Some mystery had surrounded the appearance of red and white ribbons on Trent Bridge last week, but Jacqueline explained: “A few of us in our family put ribbons up to mark the journey from my home in the Meadows up to the Forest ground.

“He was my big brother and we’ll all miss him.”

Colin Keegan, a friend of Mr Larkin since school, said he was a “family-orientated” man.

“It was difficult for him since he got the brain injury – he wasn’t quite himself. He was a stand-up and honest guy. He was lovely to all his friends around him.

“He came alive when he was in his mates’ company. He was always good fun and had a smiled that could light up a room.”

He added that the family’s ribbon tribute was “lovely”.

“They put an awful lot of time and effort into Terry’s funeral, they’re a lovely family. He was a massive Forest fan and would’ve loved that result yesterday.”

Forest beat Arsenal 1-0 in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday thanks to a goal from Lewis Grabban.

Mr Larkin was father to children 18-year-old Rohan and 10-year-old Bobby.
