Premier path spelled out for Laryea

-

NEW signing Richie Laryea says Nottingham Forest’s Premier League ambitions have been clearly laid out to him.

The full-back joined the Reds on a three-and-a-half-year deal from MLS side Toronto at the weekend, in a move thought to be worth about $1million (roughly £740,000).

He got his first taste of English football on Sunday, watching from the City Ground stands as Lewis Grabban’s goal sent Arsenal packing in the FA Cup third round.

Laryea could be involved in the Reds squad on Saturday, with a trip to face

Millwall next up for Steve Cooper’s men in a return to Championship action.

They will look to put back-to-back defeats behind them as they target a promotion challenge in the second half of the season.

“From the conversations I’ve had with my representation and they’ve had with the organisation here, they want to make a push,” Laryea told TSN Soccer.

“This is a massive club. They want to be back in the Premier League, so they want to bring in guys who will help them get to the Premier League.

“It’s a mindset where everyone here has to contribute.

“Like anywhere else, you have to come in and prove why you deserve to play. It’s that type of environment here. “They’ve been good with me. “It showed me how valued and how liked I am here by the organisation, with the efforts they made to get me here.

“It’s been open dialogue where it’s been, ‘we’ve got to do whatever possible to win and we need you to do well, as well, for us to win games, and for everyone else to do well for us to make a push to the Premier League.

“It’s been pretty standard, but them telling me that, with all things considered and what they’ve seen from me, they want me to have a role here to help them get back up.”
